MARION COUNTY, Ky. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Campbellsville resident during the early morning hours on Sunday in Marion County.
According to Marion County Sheriff Ray Gardner, deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 1259 Penick Road in Lebanon at approximately 2:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered Jaron J. Johnson, 18, of the 100 block of Carden Street in Campbellsville, deceased at the scene.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that a large gathering or party was taking place at the residence when an altercation reportedly broke out among attendees. Investigators believe the situation escalated, and during the confrontation, a firearm was produced. Shots were then fired, resulting in the fatal injury that claimed Johnson’s life.
